District 9

Everything has changed. He could not recognize himself anymore. All that is left for him are the sweet memories of her wife. He could never let those memories go, as those are the only things that remind him that deep inside, he’s still human.

With hopes that he can still become what he was before, he has to be strong. He has to survive against the perils of being the creature he is now. He has to live and most importantly, he has to wait. For now, the only thing he can do is accept the truth. That he is not human. Not yet.

It was sunset. His most favorite time of day, after that unforgettable event. It is the safest time he could stay long outside his shack.

He sat beside a pile of garbage and stopped for a moment. He looked at a crumpled tin can, picked it up and started crafting it to a flower. Like what he does every day. It has been seven months since he transformed, and tons of crafted metal flowers inside his shack. He was able to send one to his wife on the last day of his freedom. And he could not tell when will be the next time he could send another one for her.

She could not believe to what her husband has become. He would not accept the truth no matter how hard his father pushed her to believe. When she got the first crafted flower, she knew it was a sign. There is hope to see her husband again.

Military patrol units hovered the place as it gets darker. There are only few of them left in the area since they were moved to D-Ten. There is a new order from the government to reclaim the place from residing aliens and move the aliens to the relocation camp. Everyone, as troubled as they always were, looked for a hiding place to escape the forces.

His emotions set him blank, he was unaware of the situation. He was looking through eternal darkness until the bright spotlight caught him. The forces got her by surprise and there is no chance anymore to get away.

His tears started to fall as he gave himself to his captors. There was no other choice for him. He even got no idea of what is going to happen next at that moment. But he is sure that there will be no life left for him if he tries to fight it.
